I Wore One Jumpsuit From 22 Weeks to 7 Months Postpartum - and I Never Bought Another Piece Again

A small brand that fixed the one thing every maternity label still gets wrong - at a price point making every other brand look overpriced.

Woman wearing the Lunetta maternity jumpsuit

I’ve been writing about maternity clothing since my first pregnancy 7 years ago, and I’ve been pregnant 2 more times since. That combination means I’ve bought, worn, and quietly resented more maternity pieces than I’d like to count.

Most of it fails the same way. It fits for six weeks. Then the panel rolls, the waistband digs, and you’re back to hoisting something up every twenty minutes.

Lunetta is the first brand in a long time that made me stop and rethink the whole category.

I found them the way most people seem to - a friend wouldn’t stop wearing hers. No celebrity campaign, no ad I could recall. Just a growing number of women in the same jumpsuit. So I ordered a two pack at 22 weeks and started wearing them in every occasion from out with the girls to lounging around home.

Here’s what I found.

It’s the waistband. It was always the waistband.

Lunetta maternity jumpsuit mid-section, no waistband

Every piece of maternity wear I’d bought before this was trying to solve the wrong problem. Brands kept adding more - more stretch, taller panels, adjustable side buttons, ruching. The assumption being that if the waistband is elastic enough, it stops being a waistband.

It doesn’t. A growing body will find any fixed point and press against it. Give it eight hours and you’ll feel it.

Lunetta’s answer is that there isn’t one. No waistband. No zip. No buttons. Nothing structural sitting across your bump at all. The weight of the piece hangs from the shoulders and everything below just drapes.

A Design That Doesn't Scream Maternity

Lunetta maternity jumpsuit styled for going out

This is where it separates from the rest of the category. The silhouette is oversized by design, not “maternity-cut,” which means it doesn’t announce itself. I wore it to the farmers market last Saturday and got asked where it was from - she wasn't even pregnant.

Compare that to the standard options from Walmart or other maternity brands: unflattering shapes, childish prints and dresses designed for someone in retirement.

Sizing is the part people get wrong

Side profile of the Lunetta maternity jumpsuit

The instinct with maternity wear is to size up and keep sizing up. Lunetta's 4 way stretch fabric is designed to grow with you.

The fabric has real give, the straps adjust, and the whole thing is designed around a body that’s going to change shape three separate times.

I ordered my normal size at 22 weeks. It still fit at 39 weeks. It fit differently postpartum - looser through the middle, which was exactly what I wanted in those first weeks - but it still fit and felt great.

The math is the part that annoyed me

The Lunetta jumpsuit worn across pregnancy and postpartum

Here’s where this got interesting. Fortune has estimated expectant mothers spend upward of $500 a pregnancy on maternity clothes. That tracks with my own spending, and almost none of it survived past the birth. Nursing tops are a separate purchase. Postpartum is a separate purchase again. You’re buying three wardrobes for one year.

The Lunetta jumpsuit is currently just $49, but they are also running a bundle offer: 2 jumpsuits for $79 which for a limited time also includes a FREE nursing bra. A full outfit for less than $40 - and a 3 pack is even cheaper.

I do not understand how you could build a maternity closet without one of these jumpsuits and the cost per wear makes the math hard to argue with.

I've recommend the 3 jumpsuit bundle to nearly every pregnant mom I talk to and when I next see them? They're nearly always in it.

It doesn’t stop at the birth

Nursing access on the Lunetta jumpsuit

The part I underrated when I ordered.

The straps that adjust for a growing bump are the same straps that slide down for feeding.

I’d bought dedicated nursing tops before this, which I would only wear for a few weeks and then give up on. More $ wasted.

Another hidden detail - the pockets. It may seem simple at first but women's clothing always lacks pockets. With a newborn I am carrying more than ever; Phone, pacifier, snacks - having somewhere to put them its a life changer.

This is why the cost-per-wear number keeps dropping. It didn’t retire when the pregnancy ended.

The verdict

Lunetta isn’t trying to be the cheapest maternity option or reinvent the wheel. They're just providing moms with maternity wear they actually want. It’s found the gap between disposable pieces that fit for six weeks and premium labels charging $$$ for something that'll be sat in the drawer and never worn again.

The no-waistband construction is the actual differentiator, and it’s not a marketing line - it’s the reason the piece still works at 39 weeks through to postpartum.

If you’re in that stretch where your regular clothes have stopped working but full maternity wear feels premature, this is the piece I’d start with. Trust me, you won't look back.

Frequently asked questions

What’s it made from?

Lunetta uses a four-way stretch fabric with a soft brushed interior. It's breathable, lightweight and holds its shape through all 3 trimesters.

What size should I order?

Your usual size. It’s cut oversized and the straps adjust, so sizing up is the most common mistake - it gives you a piece that swallows you rather than one that drapes.

When in pregnancy can I start wearing it?

I recommend getting the jumpsuit as soon as possible so you can wear it for as many weeks as possible during your pregnancy.

Can I nurse in it?

Yes. The straps loosen for one-handed access - no clips, no hidden panels, no lifting layers.

Where do you deliver to?

We now deliver worldwide with free shipping on all orders of 2 jumpsuits or more. Once dispatched, tracking will be provided.

Ordered a jumpsuit in the gray for my sister in law as a pregnancy gift and she seems to love them as she often comes over wearing it.
